One of the most beloved of all Montana bloggers, our very own Karbon Kounty Moos, is going through some terrible times right now.
Goodbye to my beautiful girls and their healthy calves. Goodbye to years of selective breeding…They’re calling this herd tainted…There are scarier things than disease: Ignorance and arrogance. Taxes and capital gains
Go read the whole story, and let Moos know that she has lots of friends and support.

As of yesterday’s (Monday, July 16) closes, the nearby live cattle and feeder cattle closing quotes were $91.35/cwt and $115.15/cwt. respectively, meaning that a 1100-lb. finished animal would fetch about $1,005 and a 600-lb. feeder (ready to go into the feedlot to grow into a 1100-lb.-er) would go for $691, respectively.
This is so rotten.
