The Rolling Stones are coming to Montana
As Montana’s News Station first reported this morning, The Rolling Stones have officially announced they are coming to Missoula.According to a Rolling Stones Satellite promotional feed, the band has included a stop at Washington-Grizzly Stadium on October 6th, as part of their “A Bigger Bang” tour.
UPDATE from Dave: ticket information right here.
MORE: hang on — that ticket site may not be legit — I haven’t purchased a ticket to a rock concert since Van Halen in OKC circa 1984, so I’m a bit clueless…but Patia is investigating to see what the story is…more news as it develops!
UPDATE from Jen: The Stones concert has been rescheduled to October 4th (Wednesday).

Wow — the Stones — are they playing at the seniors center? Just kidding…they’re still moderately cool…and get mucho bonus points for longevity, if nothing else.
*snickers* Good one, David.
unreal…. big stones fan from 1969 until present…. please email me when tickets go on sale…. stones fan from great falls
When and where will the tickets go on sale ????
I find it ironic that they are coming to Missoula, Montana but as soon as the tickets go on sale they are NOWHERE to be found…what about us locals?
Katherine, tickets haven’t gone on sale yet. Official ticket sales, at least. The above Ticket Triangle site appears to be a resale site; while Ticketmaster is the official outlet.
Dave, I just sent you the latest from UM officials …
I will pass on anything I hear about tickets going on sale.
Sorry to tell you all…. they are not playing in Missoula after all, they just announced a 2nd concert for Regina, SK Canada on Oct. 6th, 2 days before their original concert date. The 1st offering of the Oct. 8 tickets sold out in 10 minutes – Good Luck!
Heard the show was called off ….what does anyone know..breaking news??
The published date for the Stones to be in Regina Sk is 10/08.
Okay, let’s all try this again. There will be two shows in Regina, one on the 6th and then once again on the 8th. Two days before the 6th, there will be a show in Missoula at Grizzly Stadium. Here is an article from Reuters to confirm it.
It Sucks to be a Stones fan from Missoula, Montana…
The merciless whining of Rolling Stones fans, some of them Rider season ticket holders (so they had lots of practice at griping when losing), has apparently paid off, and the Stones have cancelled their originally scheduled Missoula concert 2 days befo…
Yeah, if you people read the newspaper, you’d be up on this story. Missoulian coverage has been excellent.
Well, us inbred, yokels outsida Missoula don’t be readin’ too good, doncha know. :)
Well Lauren, I think we reported everything we need to know. What’s the Missoulian reporting? The same thing probably. Plus we don’t all read the Missoulian – there are other newspapers in the state.
Thanks Patia, I was just a bit concerned that I was going to be left in the dust when they do go on sale. This is going to be a MAD HOUSE!!!~
AHHHH LOS ESTONES….YEP, NOW THAT SURGERY IN AUSTRALIA HAS RELIEVED THE PRESSURE IN KEITH’S HEAD…HE’S READY TO GO TO
MISSOULA…and why wouldn’t he? PRESUMES HE DOESN’T DAMAGE HIMSELF WHILE FILMING #3 IN THE PIRATES OF THE CARRIB SERIES OF CINEMA DELIGHTS. GET THE BEST TIX POSSIBLE…AND DIG MICK HOPPING AROUND ONSTAGE FOR 2HRS 15MINS…YOU TRY IT WHEN YOU’RE IN YOUR MID 60′S….BETTER YET, JUST DO IT NOW! DEFINITELY INHALE FOR THIS ONE.
This is the scoop. Regina sold all their tickets to the first show to their season ticket holders (limit of 12 each). This sold out the concert and the rest of Regina wasn’t happy about that. So in good faith the “Stones” said they would perform another night. Long story short Montana got screwed out of a Friday night concert because of a bad decision Regina made when ticket sales opened.
MontanaKid, that’s not exactly accurate. The Riders’ season ticket holders got a shot at 8 tickets for the first show before anyone else. They had to buy 4 at a time. With about 9000 holders though, that alone would have oversold, so they capped the number that could be sold as well. This left some thinking they’d have a shot, not with any. Someone couldn’t do math at the box office obviously.
Anyway, the rest sold out in 20 minutes the next day. I don’t know how big Grizzly stadium is, but at Taylor Field [AKA Mosaic Stadium in Regina] they expect to fit 45,000 people for a show.
Why the Stones picked Regina over Montana is anyone’s guess.
My mistake on the cap on the tickets but regardless, the tickets should’ve been open to all equally and not just the season ticket holders. Kudo’s to the “Stones” for trying to make it right. It will just have to be a short work week for us Montanans.
What’s the latest news on the Stones tickets for Missoula? A bunch of us Idaho fans can’t wait to come up for the show.
Please help me get 6 tickets. Tom Pomeroy Ketchum, Idaho

Just wanted to clarify a couple of things about the Stones’ shows in Regina:
1. The Stones’ managment almost always insists on letting the season ticket holders for the venue participate in the online pre-sale. This is a decision made by the Stones and not the local venue.
2. A relatively small portion of all tickets were offered to season ticket holders in the pre-sale. The vast majority of tickets were sold to the public during the public sale.
3. The tickets to the public were sold out within minutes and that is why the Stones decided to put on a second show in Regina, which sold out in a matter of a few hours.
That’s great Cambo.
Tickets for Presale in Missoula happened on the Rolling Stones Website last week. Sale for GA and Golden Circle tickets occurred today, August 14th and sold out by the end of the afternoon. If you are interested in getting tickets for this show I know where to find some great tickets still for sale. Contact me at adamheilman@msn.com and I can let you know more about em.
p.s. The tickets I referred to in the earlier post consist of eight, sequentially ordered aisle seats located in the endzone opposite the stage. These are great seats about forty yards from the center arena stage platform near the Jumbotron. From what I understand, if you buy these tickets as a group the seller will give a better deal on them. Just thought you all would like to know. Also, there are a number of tickets available on Ebay, but, caveat emptor, you have few guarantees as to the validity of the tix sold there. I know for a fact that these tix are the real deal and well worth the asking price.
the Stones suck, who are we kidding, they are the Ronald McDonald of the music world, slop for the masses. The kid down the block is a better singer and guitar player. Hero worship at its best or worst however you prefer to look at it. It’s hype and the public sucks it up. What a shame with all the starving and creative people in the world the these clowns corner that market, but that is more a statement on the public whom have to idea what art is anymore. rub shit on your face and they’ll call it art. What a sad world we live in.
Sounds like sour grapes to me. The Stones were fabulous!!!
