Cowboys??

lilmsdaisy1340

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering….are there really ‘REAL’, cattle-herding, live-on-a-ranch cowboys in Montana?? I’m 18, have lived in Colorado my entire life and that is my dream of all dreams—to meet a cowboy, marry him and live someplace like Montana (although I have to admit, I’ve never actually BEEN to Montana, I’ve seen movies and things, and it looks like the cowboyish place lol). SOO, I was thinking of going to College in Montana (so I can meet my cowboy…oh, and, to get a degree, of course (haha))

So, I guess my question is, if I were to go to Montana State University would I have a good (great…?) chance of meeting my ‘dream cowboy’? Because, I’ve always heard that someone usually meets their husband/wife in college. And if not at MSU, than where would you suggest I go?

You’re probably all laughing, because as I read over this, I sure am, ’cause it sounds…well, stupid. But, I really, truely want to know where in the United States cowboys flock (because they’re sure not in Colorado, I can tell ya that. At the rodeos, yes, but other than that….nope.) LOL thank you so much for all your help.

I prefer the cowboys who attend UM-Western in Dillon Montana. The college is small …so you can meet mr. wonderful and rodeo is a HUGE part of campus life.

MSU & UM are relatively large school but have many good degree programs.

Are ya sure you want to marry a cowboy? Get your degree first & then see if the cowboy fits- worst case you spend 4 years in beautiful Montana & get your education!

Good luck to you!

Hi lilmdaisy! From my perspective — living in Texas for many years, and then moving to Montana 3+ years ago — I can tell you that Montana is truly cowboy country. REAL cowboys, ranchers, farmers, and such. No “urban” cowboys that I’ve seen. You’re young, so I can’t disagree with what ZenPanda said about taking your time re: finding Your Cowboy, but as far as moving to Montana and going to college, there is no way that you can go wrong. You will never meet such friendly people or see such incredible beauty.

Oh boy…

I don’t know you, but I would guess you are young, since you are discussing going to college.

Don’t go to college just to find a husband. Go to college to get an education, hopefully in a discipline that you enjoy.

As the previous two commenters stated, you can do a heck of a lot worse than going to college in Montana.

It is a sublime state, for many reasons.

Come here, get your education, and let the rest take care of itself.

Besides, you may not get what you were looking for if you find yourself a 19 year old cowboy. We (gyus)usually don’t get our act together and figure out what we want out of life until our mid-20’s… sometimes older.

Be patient…

Montana State is the Cowboy Land Grant college. Great Campus and you can get class credit for skiing at Bridger Bowl.
The Plant Science dept is wonderful as well as the film school and the public radio station on campus KGLT 91.9
Check it out
