Hi Everyone,
Just wondering….are there really ‘REAL’, cattle-herding, live-on-a-ranch cowboys in Montana?? I’m 18, have lived in Colorado my entire life and that is my dream of all dreams—to meet a cowboy, marry him and live someplace like Montana (although I have to admit, I’ve never actually BEEN to Montana, I’ve seen movies and things, and it looks like the cowboyish place lol). SOO, I was thinking of going to College in Montana (so I can meet my cowboy…oh, and, to get a degree, of course (haha))
So, I guess my question is, if I were to go to Montana State University would I have a good (great…?) chance of meeting my ‘dream cowboy’? Because, I’ve always heard that someone usually meets their husband/wife in college. And if not at MSU, than where would you suggest I go?
You’re probably all laughing, because as I read over this, I sure am, ’cause it sounds…well, stupid. But, I really, truely want to know where in the United States cowboys flock (because they’re sure not in Colorado, I can tell ya that. At the rodeos, yes, but other than that….nope.) LOL thank you so much for all your help.

Poking around the Google Video site, I stumbled across this brief clip of the Montana Air National Guard’s 219 RED HORSE unit assisting African villagers:

e-mailed to me: My name is Jason Duncan and my wife and I are hoping to open Cafe Evoke, an art and coffee house, in the North East Neighborhood (Bozeman). Our art and coffee house is dedicated to building community on both a local and global scale. We are planning to serve Fair Trade and organic coffees and teas and organic foods whenever possible. Our goal is to provide a place for people to come, sip, and talk. We plan to display the work of local artists, bring in singer songwriters, writers, poets, play writes, videographers and others to share their passions.

Hi All -
I posted this to a thread (right word?) of this category before, so if this is redundant, please accept my profuse apologies…..I haven’t blogged before…
Thinking about moving to MT in the not-too-far-off future. I’ve been up in the Flathead Valley and Missoula areas and loved it (esp. Flathead). Though in saying that, I’m not limiting myself to that area necessarily. Anyhoo – point is, I’m gettin’ tired of moving (lived in about 40 states). Trying to find a place to stop and make home. One important realization about myself is that I can’t stand months of no sunshine. You can throw the elements at me, but no sunshine for weeks and weeks makes me batty. I’m currently living in Washington state (now you know where this might be going?). Love the mountains and all the beauty, but can’t stand the lack of sun/light for weeks at a time in the winter. Considering places just on the east side of the mountains here, as well. But I really LOVED Montana the couple times I’ve been there. So I’m doing some reasearch on MT, and trying to get some idea of my options.
Any input you all have on places that have winter sunshine in MT would be mucho appreciated. Looking to -eventually- have a small acreage with a few horses, and would like to be somewhat close to town (within an hour or so of one of the bigger towns w/ an airport). I’m hoping to be working a part-time job (I have tons of admin experience and such – currently working as a paralegal in IP; I have experience working in social work with kids, too. am not above anything else, and, in fact, it might be nice to DO something else.). I AM planning to be teaching a little guitar to kids part-time – but that’ll take time to get going, so the job is a necessity. Anyway – the long and short of it is, I am looking to get the h-e-double-toothpicks out of the city once I get my ducks all in a row (or they get ME in line, on or the other), and am looking for a place that won’t leave me in the DARK

ZenPanda has taken the time to create a list of links to various Montana-based Flickr photo-pools, including Great Falls, Missoula, Bozeman, Go Bobcats, Small Town Montana, and more. Thanks, ZenPanda!

Posted on behalf of my friend Todd, who knew Mr Ayers for many years.
FORT BENTON —Clifford Eugene Ayers, 65, of Fort Benton, an Army veteran and retired Great Falls police officer, died of natural causes Sunday at Peace Hospice in Great Falls.
Full story here. Mr Ayers was also, according to Todd, one of the very “early adopters” of computers & internet-savvy in the Great Falls area.

Didja know that McDonald’s has its very own Montana-based website? Yep…you can find out how many McDonald’s there are in our state, see which ones are hiring, and even sign up for a “Power Bowl!” Not bad – I give ‘em an “A” for effort.
