Montana decides ‘no’ to state terrorism tsar
- A legislative panel decided that the state doesn’t need a terrorism tsar to keep a track on what’s happening in the domestic war on terror. The bill was brought forth by Dave Gallik (D-Helena). The committee also balked at creating a new government program that would spread unwanted information about terror threats.

State Senate Passes new Graduated license Rules
- I’m sorta confused because I thought this was the law any way but I guess not! This bill would require that newly licensed motorists should be accompanied by a parent or other license driver that is at least 21 years old in the first six months. They also couldn’t drive between the hours of 11 pm to 5 am, however you can make exceptions with work, school or an emergency.

Parents would have to certify at least 50 hours of supervised driving time, including ten of those in the night time before a teen can actually get their license.

Minimum wage could be increased from $5.15 to $6.20.

Re: Minimum wage increase.

That’s all well & good. I’ve worked at the minimum wage in MT – often 2 & 3 jobs at once. You gotta love Red Lodge. But what also needs to be done is having employers give their employees more than 32 hour weeks & giving them some benefits – namely decent health insurance.

As self employed farmer/ranchers we have to pay for our own & believe me I know how expensive it is. But we would not be without it – it’s a matter of priorities.
