Tickets to See President Bush

David in Great Falls

If you want to see President George W. Bush when he visits Great Falls on Thursday, February 3, then you need to act quickly!

Maximum capacity in the Four Seasons Arena is about 6,000 people. Marketing Director Lori Cox said Sunday that security and the traveling corps of media representatives and staff members would take up a good number of those seats. The number to call for tickets is 452-9585.

And I’ll repeat my question from the other day: President Kennedy visited Great Falls in 1963…President Reagan visited Great Falls in 1982…but I can’t confirm that any other sitting President has visited Great Falls. I’ve heard of at least one person who swears that President George H.W. Bush visited Great Falls in 1992 — but can find no evidence of same. Can any Big Sky Blog Bloggers or readers confirm or deny?

I am very sure that President Bush (41) never visited Great Falls. Dan Quayle was here in 1988.

However, I have heard that we have had other Presidents visit Great Falls in the early part of the twentieth century. For one, I do know that Montana was a favored destination for Teddy Roosevelt before, during and after his presidency.

Well Teddy stayed at the Conrad Mansion, here in Kalispell.

President Bush visited Billings in 88 and 89 on campaign stops. President Johnson visited in 1964. President Harry Truman in 1948 to campaign and then in 1950 to dedicate the Hungry Horse Dam. In 1953, President Eisenhower dedicated the fire jumping station. FDR came and visited in 1934. Wilson, Teddy Roosevelt, Taft etc.
